Seca Ruina – Multiband distortion Drive – Launched by Noise Engineering
Seca Ruina is a multiband distortion with comprehensive CV control and a bypassable VCA. Seca Ruina is available now directly at Noise Engineering and soon at retailers for example Signal Sounds! Distortion is entertaining and exciting when you split it up across the frequency spectrum. Seca Ruina takes an input, splits it up into three frequency bands, and lets you drive them into annihilation. Seca Ruina includes a bypassable VCA on the output and CV over the individual band and universal drive amount. With individual outputs for each band, you can process each band further externally.
Seca Ruina was one of the early distortion module ideas Noise Engineering had in the distortion of-the-month plan. It was initially a 4hp module and had no CV. Noise Engineering pretty rarely want to make a module larger unless they really think it increases the value and utility of the module a lot. But they got the first prototype in hand and realized that in this case, CV was key to the module. Noise Engineering revised and added the CV jacks, adding 2hp to the footprint. Seca Ruina is 6hp.

qvca – Wonkystuff’s Quad VCA for AE Modular

Wonkystuff kicked off the new year 2021 with a limited run of qvca, a Quad VCA in a single-width module. Wonkystuff plans to make these available as a larger run later on in the year, this first run being a ‘proof of concept’.
The VCAs are designed only for audio use (unlike the standard Tangible Waves 2VCA which can be applied to both audio and CV signals).
As would be expected, each VCA has an audio input, an audio output and a CV input to control the level of the audio output. In addition to this, there is also an inverted CV output to allow cross fading or ducking of signals. A simple use of this would be to pan signals, using an LFO or envelope to control the level of VCAs panned left and right.

Erica Synths Black Quad VCA, despite its compact size, is designed in line with the Black Series Hi-Fi philosophy, our custom pre-emphasis – de-emphasis circuits preserve all the nuances of the original signal.
Erica Synths Black Quad VCA2 is a versatile four-channel voltage controlled amplifier and mixer module for use in complex modular systems. Each channel has a linear/logarithmic response selector and signal level indicator LED. All outputs are sequentially mixed and CV inputs are normalled to each other, so you can use the module in various configurations. If no CV is applied, the Black Quad VCA2 performs as a signal mixer, and the 4th channel is DC coupled for controlling CV sources, as well.
Erica Black series are high-end modules with unique functionality. Only the highest quality components are used and all inputs and outputs are protected against undesired overvoltage. When designing the Black Series, we did not economise on the module width, we put design and usability first. Big knobs are assigned to functions that make difference in sound. Together the Erica Black series are a range of modules that make an entire synthesizer.
