Palette is a series of thematic professional orchestral and cinematic Kontakt virtual instruments for songwriters and media composers. It was recorded in a dedicated hall with world-renowned performers by a passionate and experienced team of sample makers. It was a dream come true for us to make and Red Room Audio hopes this expansive set of scoring tools inspires you to write some great music.
There’s an awful lot of content here, so to make things more accessible Red Room Audio divided it into multiple products. The first is “Palette – Symphonic Sketchpad (Affiliate Link),” which contains the building blocks to quickly and easily bring your cinematic ideas to life. Then, to add detail and color to your compositions Red Room Audio has put together additional toolsets Red Room Audio call “Brush Packs.” Brush packs focus on deeper and more specific scoring elements like orchestral FX, percussion loops or true-legato melodic ensembles. Pick up the tools you want and not the ones you don’t. Since all Palette instruments were recorded in the same hall by the same production team and the same musicians, they complement each other perfectly.
Palette – Symphonic Sketchpad (Affiliate Link) is a 26+GB library featuring strings, woodwinds, brass, choir and percussion and to fill out the list of essential writing tools Red Room Audio added piano, harp and even a set of modern trailer instruments. The orchestral ensembles offer a nice variety of articulations, including 4 kinds of short notes, as well as trills, tremolo, pizzicato, and other deeper techniques. We recorded 3 dynamic layers and up to 7 round robins and to give you even more flexibility we recorded everything in 2 different ensemble sizes (chamber and full) so you can go epic or go intimate.
The orchestral ensembles offer a wide variety of articulations, including 4 kinds of short notes, as well as trills, tremolo, pizzicato, and other deeper techniques.
CHOIR, PERCUSSION, PIANO & HARP
Red Room Audio 24-piece choir features separate Womens & Mens sections performing sustains and staccato articulations in 3 vowels (Ah, Oh and Mm).
PSS also offers 22 essential tonal and atonal orchestral percussion instruments, sampled in up to 7 dynamics with 5 round robin for both left and right hand (where applicable). Standard hits, rolls, and other unique articulations are included. The drums, cymbals and auxiliary instruments are combined in one simple GM-style patch to minimize your track count. Red Room Audio also added 6-player ensemble trailer drums and hand percussion patches with the v1.1 update.
Red Room Audio piano is a beautiful Steinway B Grand, recorded in the hall with 6 dynamic layers and multiple round-robin.
The concert harp patch features standard plucks and a unique “glissandi maker” script, which simulates realistic pedaling to produce hundreds of scales you can perform at any length or speed by simply sweeping your controller’s keys up and down.

Red Room Audio’s Cue Builders – Cinematic Rhythms is the ultimate percussive loop engine for epic, cinematic and world music. Many of us are familiar with percussive, loop based libraries such as Action Strikes or Damage, but Red Room Audio’s approach is more natural and offers more flexibility and versatility.
Cue Builders Cinematic Rhythms contains a huge amount of loops and percussive layers, and they’re available in an impressive variety of time signatures as well. Of course we have the tried-and-true 4/4 (FOUR whole banks of 4/4), but we also get more unique and less used time signatures, such as 2/4, 5/4, 12/8, 6/8, and 7/8.
There are two main categories, Epic Rhythms and World Rhythms. When you load one of the instruments, the loops are mapped all across your keyboard, and each loop contains multiple layers (up to 6 different layers): Low 1, Low 2, Mid 1, Mid 2, High 1, and High 2. You can mute or solo any of these layers at any time, so you have access to the full spectrum of each rhythmic section.
Many percussion/loop libraries sound very processed or “hyped”, but Cue Builders is very natural and organic sounding, which I think many composers will appreciate. There are multiple mic positions as well, to get a more up-close and intimate sound, or a more epic and roomy sound. This library can be used for practically any cinematic genre, from epic trailers, traditional action scoring, and world/ethnic music from all corners of the globe.

CUE BUILDERS libraries are thematic collections of time saving compositional building blocks for instant inspiration. The product’s ingenious multi-stem approach offers a level of depth that goes beyond that of other loop-based libraries, allowing you to dissect and tweak individual elements to dial in just the right flavors.
CUE BUILDERS CINEMATIC RHYTHMS contains over 400 tempo-synced percussion loops in 2 categories (Epic and World). Each category offers a wide selection of phrases in 6-time signatures with up to 6 layered (and fully accessible) stems per phrase, conveniently separated by tonal color (High, Mid and Low).
A hand-picked team of 10 sound designers from around the world constructed these phrases using Red Room Audio’s vast boutique collection of meticulously deep-sampled percussion instruments, recorded on a scoring stage.
