Add movement, dimension, and rhythm to your sound design with DS Audio TANTRA 2.

The Tantra 2 plugin is a multi-effect that can create mesmerizing rhythm sequences from any source material. It has been reported to work best with synth sounds, deep and evolving pads, or even arpeggiated sound waves! All it takes are just a few clicks of your mouse for this incredible tool to do its job already–sparkling up those boring beats like you never imagined possible before!.

The innovative power of the new Tantra 2 synth allows you to create lush, evolving sounds that get more complex with each layer. Create rhythms and melodies in any style using 8 different effect stages including filter effects like distortion or delay; lo-fi noises for glitchy goodness! And don’t forget about two layers per main tone pattern so there’s plenty of space leftover from making your own unique subpatterns within these powerful drum beats: it truly is something special when all elements work together as one whole machine made just right for this task at hand – rhythm modulation!

Learn how Luca Pretolesi uses the DS Audio Tantra 2 for reshaping existing arrangements, and how to enter the world of creative mixing with a few clicks.

Tolerance Modeling Technology or TMT Explained by Dirk Ulrich

Tolerance Modeling Technology (TMT)

Every channel strip in an analog console sounds slightly different compared to each other. This is due to the slight variances of the built-in components that contribute to the sound of each channel strip. Engineers who work a lot on analog desks often have their favorite channels for vocals, snare, and so on because of these little tolerances that make a sonic difference.

When Dirk Ulrich, the founder, and owner of Brainworx, realized how these little sonic variances had a massive impact on his mixes’ dimensionality, width, and depth, he wanted to add these analog imperfections and tolerances to the digital domain. Dirk and Brainworx came up with the idea of the now patented TMT (Tolerance Modeling Technology). Learn more about TMT in the video below.

Several EQ options

Conveniently choose between three classic EQs — the semi-parametric 50A EQ for three-band processing, the 50B for four bands, and the 60 as a precision graphic EQ for radically reshaping sounds in a way that is as transparent and flexible as it is fun.

Equalization is a key part of any audio signal processing setup, and the right EQ can make all the difference in getting your sound just right. With that in mind, let’s take a look at three classic EQs from Waves Audio. The first is the semi-parametric 50A EQ, which offers three-band processing for shaping your sound. Next is the 50B EQ, which adds an extra band for even more flexibility.

Finally, there’s the 60 Graphic EQ, which provides a precision tool for radically reshaping sounds. Each of these EQs has its own strengths and weaknesses, so it’s important to choose the one that’s right for you and your application. Whichever you choose, you can be sure that you’re getting a high-quality EQ that will help you get the perfect sound.

Two Awesome Compressors

The VCA compressor models API’s high-end 2500 series compressor, with additional controls to improve upon the original. Meanwhile, the included FET compressor got the tone, simplicity, and ease of use of the original 500 series, as it is modeled after the famous API 525 compressor.

The VCA also has a sidechain filter that can be set to lowpass, bandpass, or highpass. This allows the user to control what frequencies are being compressed. The VCA also has a makeup gain control, which allows the user to make up for any lost volume due to compression. Overall, the VCA compressor is a great option for those who want the classic API sound with some added features.

Finally, the VCA compressor models the high-end 2500 series compressor of API®, with additional controls to improve upon the original. On top of that, the included FET compressor nails the tone, simplicity, and ease of use of the original 500 series since it is modeled after the acclaimed API® 525 compressor.

Clearly, then, the Lindell Audio 50 Series far from falls short of the mark, with a fanciful feature set well worth highlighting here: 72 different TMT channel emulations in one plugin — just like a real console; three switchable EQs modeled after the most popular 500- series lunchbox® designs; two switchable compressors; classic API® noise gate and expander emulation; classic API® preamp tone capture — full, tight, and punchy — with automatic gain compensation; continuously variable THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and virtual GAIN controls to add colorful saturation and/or simulated analog noise independently or globally; and scalable UI (User Interface) to adapt to different screen sizes and workflows, with users also benefitting from plenty of preloaded presets providing a useful starting point for finding their sound.

High-Quality Audio Processing Tools

With the release of 50 Series, API is continuing its tradition of delivering high-quality audio processing tools that are both powerful and easy to use. Channel is a fully-featured channel strip that includes a preamp, EQ, compressor, expander/gate, and master section.

It’s easy to get the sound you’re looking for with three different EQ options and two different compressors to choose from. And Buss is a great choice for those who need a simple but effective summing plugin.

The Inclusion of Adjustable Harmonic Distortion

The inclusion of adjustable harmonic distortion in the preamp and line amp stages is a great feature that allows you to get the sound you want.

The main menu provides op-amp clipping options (Hard, Soft, and Off), as well as options for circuit noise (On/Off) and oversampling (2x to 16x). You can also choose the plugin side-chain target (gate/expander or compressor). This flexibility gives you a lot of control over your sound and allows you to get the perfect tone for your tracks.

Conclusion

Plugin Alliance’s Lindell Audio 50 Series is the latest offering from the Lindell Plugins/LSR Audio collaboration, and it follows a similar path to their Neve-style 80 Series. The 50 Series is a set of plugins that combine excellent modeling with Brainworx’s Tolerance Modelling Technology (TMT).

TMT is a technology that allows for tighter tolerances in modeling, resulting in more accurate recreations of classic hardware. The Lindell Audio 50 Series includes classic 1950s and 1960s gear emulations, including the Neve 1073 and the API 312. These plugins sound great on a wide variety of sources, from vocals to electric guitars.

The 50 Series includes two API-style compressors based on two classic units – the 525 FET and the 2500 VCA. The 50 Series VCA really captures the spirit of these wonderfully flexible units.

With switchable feedforward and feedback topologies, it’s easy to get highly responsive behavior perfect for snappy drums and punchy vocals or to achieve a more vintage glue effect perfect for mixes and sub-mixes.

The Niveau Control is a great mixing and mastering tool that can really help you get the most out of your tracks. The sidechain EQ options allow you to finetune the sound of your tracks, and the knee settings let you control how much of the track is affected by the sidechain EQ.

We really like this module, but it’s worth saying it’s not quite as flexible as the original hardware, which includes two sidechains EQs and three knee settings. However, the Niveau Control is still a great tool for any producer or engineer looking to get the most out of their tracks.

While there are many different types of EQs on the market, we particularly like parametric EQs for their versatility. They can be used to add crack to beats and snares, body to basses and kicks, and all-around sparkle.

While they may not be able to perform surgical tasks or notch out nasty frequencies, the chosen frequencies work so well that it’s easy to see why the original designs remain so popular. In addition, parametric EQs allow you to adjust the bandwidth of the applied frequency, which can be very helpful in fine-tuning your sound.

API’s 50 Series provides emulations of key API processors coupled with some very handy extras. These include TMT, adjustable op-amp clipping, and harmonic distortion.

The 50 Series may not be endorsed by the original manufacturer and a couple of the hardware features are omitted. However, this is one of the best API-inspired emulations we’ve used. It brings together the classic sound in an easy-to-use package.

The 50 Series is a great addition to any studio, providing a wealth of options for shaping sound. If you’re looking for high-quality, accurate models of classic hardware, the Lindell Audio 50 Series is worth checking out.
