When you travel the world full-time with lots of audio gear and video equipment, you get to a point where you start thinking more about the weight of your kit. Being efficient and quick to set up is the key and having more things doesn’t necessarily produce the best end result!
When I discovered the Manfrotto Nanopole a few months ago, I knew immediately that this was a great piece of equipment. With this Nanopole, I have my microphones ready to use quickly and it fits perfectly in the Loewe Pro Tactic bag. WHY I CHOOSE TO GET THE RYCOTE PCS-BOOM CONNECTOR
While I love the Nanopole there is part of this gear that would slow me down. I had a problem with the 3/8 thread and how long it took me to screw the Cinela and Rycote shock mount on top of the Nanopole.
Not only did the time bothered me but also the thought that one day I could destroy the thread of the Cinela if I screwed it on incorrectly. If that happens, that’s it.
Either I have to find someone who can fix the problem, have to sent it back to Paris (which makes things difficult as a world traveler without a home base), or have a replacement part sent to me.
Then I found out about the Rycote PCS-Boom Connector and it was love at first click. I knew that this system was great for boom operators and I figured it would be perfect for field recording as well.
With this device, I can protect the thread on the Cinela and save crucial time when assembling between Nanopole, Boompole, and the Pistol Grip.
