Terracotta: Mirage by FrozenPlain

Terracotta: Mirage is powered by our sampled-based-synthesis engine VST/AU, Mirage, which is included for free. This flexible engine has a 3-layer structure for blending sounds as well as all the features you’d expect from a modern synth, such as filters, envelopes, and effects.

  • 40 presets, saved as separate mirage-terracotta files
  • Mirage sample-based synthesis engine included
  • Terracotta Mirage library (closed format mdata file) which features six instruments
  • ~85MB file download

Organic, alive and earthy – Terracotta is an utterly unique melodic-percussion instrument made from terracotta pots. This instrument’s charming bell-like tones are ideal for adding a tangible vibrancy to percussion sections, arpeggios and melodic lines. It’s powered by our sampled-based-synthesis engine VST/AU, Mirage, which is included for free. 25 different pots were sampled to make this instrument featuring 4 round robin and 4 velocity layers. As well as this, Terracotta comes with a handful of ‘mixer’ instruments designed to be blended with the main sound. This product also comes with 40 presets for instant production-ready results.

Playable Across the Whole Keyboard

Each recording was carefully edited, tuned, and mapped to a region on the keyboard. These regions were then combined into a full instrument that’s playable all the way from the lowest note to the highest note. You can also blend in some of the included ‘mixer’ sounds to create new tones. These include a resonating large ceramic bowl, a music box, and a plucked steel string.

What is different about the Mirage version?

The core sound is essentially the same except for some minor changes to tuning and some changes to the Celeste instrument. The Kontakt version and the Mirage version are powered by different engines with different architectures; however, the features of each are roughly comparable.

Pricing and Availability

Terracotta: Mirage is available now.

Already own Terracotta as a Kontakt library? This product was initially created for Kontakt and has now been moved to Mirage. This new version of Terracotta is a reinterpretation of the old samples. We believe this new version is slightly better for rapid sound-design and for ease-of-use. If you’ve already bought Terracotta for Kontakt on frozenplain.com, you can pick up Terracotta for Mirage for only $5. Log into your account on frozenplain.com and visit the Terracotta: Mirage page. You will see the price automatically discounted to $5.
