Roland showcases the Aerophone Pro at CES 2021, the new flagship model in the company’s acclaimed Aerophone series of digital wind instruments. Combining numerous design refinements and premium components with enhanced playability and a vast sonic palette from Roland’s SuperNATURAL and ZEN-Core sound engines, Aerophone Pro enables wind players to take their music where it’s never gone before.

Introduced in 2016, the Aerophone series has opened a universe of creative possibilities for wind musicians. While developing Aerophone Pro, Roland reached out to expert players around the globe for suggestions on taking the Aerophone experience to the next level. Their feedback led to many thoughtful improvements that substantially enhance the instrument’s look, feel, sound, and playability. The result is a revolutionary wind instrument that gives musicians a bold and highly expressive new voice.

Aerophone Pro’s thin, ergonomic design looks great on stage and is easier to hold for a more confident playing experience. Controls are easy to reach, and the streamlined body and aluminum accents exude an understated-yet-classy presence. The discrete OLED screen provides quick visual access to various parameters and can be viewed at any angle and in any kind of lighting.

The stock fingering on Aerophone Pro is the same as an acoustic sax and includes a high-F# key. Multiple user-customizable fingerings are supported as well, and configurable controls for both hands and a MIDI input for footswitches greatly expand performance options. Through extensive research and development, the breath and bite sensors are more responsive and expressive than ever, and the user can save personalized settings for their own style.

Aerophone Pro packs entire brass and woodwind sections into a single instrument. Developed with professional players, there are newly enhanced soprano, alto, and tenor saxes, vibrant new trumpet sounds, and authentic world instruments like the stunning new duduk. Roland’s SuperNATURAL technology translates every playing nuance with lifelike dynamics, articulations, and overtones, while new controller options enable idiomatic performance techniques on a range of instruments, from mainstream to exotic.

Aerophone Pro also features Roland’s ZEN-Core Synthesis System, the sound engine that powers flagship synthesizers like FANTOM and JUPITER-X. Presets crafted by the world’s foremost wind synth sound designers provide everything from vintage analog synth tones to modern hybrid sounds, with the refined expression and articulation only a wind instrument can provide.

And with a headphones jack, Bluetooth MIDI, built-in speaker, and battery-powered operation, users can pick up and play whenever and wherever inspiration strikes.

Aerophone Pro offers powerful onboard editing tools for personalizing sounds on the spot. Even deeper customization and sound organization is available through an editor app for iOS and Android mobile devices. And with easily selectable scene memories and favorites, users can quickly navigate the large array of tones and mark them for instant recall while performing.

About Karanyi Sounds

Karanyi Sounds is a sample developer company that was founded by award-winning composer, music producer Dani Karanyi in 2018. Over the last 17 years, Dani produced electronic music albums as well as film, animation, video game scores, and TV advertisements. As a pianist, he was always passionate about exploring how to bring life to the digital world of music production and seeking new techniques of sound manipulation. Teamed up with Los Angeles-based composers and other sound designers around Europe, he started to sample his favorite synthesizers and release them as Kontakt instruments with a simple-to-use, intuitive interface. Karanyi Sounds keep developing new inspiring instruments and expanding our repertoire to other sound sources too. Personally, I find the aesthetics mind-blowing outstanding pleasing.

Karanyi Sounds is crafting inspiring, high-quality sample collections in Kontakt format, focusing on film and video game scoring. Their goal is to create sonically rich, detailed and characteristic instruments like (or sometimes unlike than) the original sound sources. The company carefully select these sound sources while they also set up custom analog recording paths and rare combinations of effect chains to create unique, playable instruments. Unconventional recording techniques and sound design are as important parts of the modern music production as melodies and orchestration – so Karanyi Sounds is focusing on moods and characters as well as the sound sources themselves.

CL-Projects joined Triple Spiral Audio

Frank Dierickx from CL-Projects joined Triple Spiral Audio with a beautiful collection of products. Frank created  2 Omnisphere soundsets, 13 Kontakt libraries, and 3 soundbanks for the Roland D50 and Juno Alpha hardware synths.

CL-Projects is Frank Dierickx, a hobby musician & self-made sound designer. CL-Projects saw the light in 2012 with the idea to make patches for hardware and software synthesizers and later on to create sound libraries for the Native Instruments Kontakt sampler. He became interested in sampling because he wanted to use non-synth sounds like realistic choirs in his compositions. Kontakt was ideal for this purpose. He got interested in creating libraries himself, mainly libraries devoted to synthesizer sounds and his experience in programming synthesizers came in handy for creating these Kontakt libraries.

Because Frank’s first libraries (Electronic Expanse and the Pad Factory Series) were well received by friends, he decided to release his libraries to the public for a very economical price. He also creates patch banks for software and hardware synthesizers.

These CL-Projects soundsets, libraries, and soundbanks take you on a fantastic analog sound journey inspired by Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and many others.

Roland Updates the Range of BCB Pedalboards

Roland updated their flagship BCB pedalboard range and added a new model—the premium travel-friendly BCB-1000. The BCB-90X and BCB-30X offer more flexibility for modern pedal layouts and the BCB-1000 is a robust and practical solution for traveling with your pedals.

The world of effects pedals really started to expand in the early 1970s, launching a new era of creative exploration for guitarists. Soon, top touring players and session musicians began commissioning elaborate custom-built rigs to house their effects, and the concept of the modern pedalboard was born. But for the average player, an affordable, off-the-shelf option was virtually non-existent for many years.

That all changed in 1982 when BOSS introduced the BCB-6, a user-configurable pedalboard for the masses. This breakthrough product featured an innovative molded design that was both the board and carrying case, and allowed guitarists to incorporate six compact pedals—plus the new BOSS TU-12 tuner, another milestone product—in an integrated, ready-to-play package.

Adopted by countless players in the decades since BCB pedalboards have continued to evolve to meet their changing needs. The latest BCB lineup is our most versatile and diverse to date, providing trusted BOSS solutions for modern pedal setups and musicians on the move.
